Encore Electric joined the CrossPurpose employer network in October of 2023. For two years, Encore has been the epitome of an employer partner as they consistently host Employer Engagement events, volunteer at mock interviews, and post open positions to our job board for leaders. Their dedication to providing a healthy work environment and setting their employees up for success is the biggest reason this partnership is so successful.

Encore has hired several CrossPurpose alumni over the course of the partnership. For one of those alumni, Anwyn, the experience has been more than she imagined. “I thought I would be building normal houses, wiring up lights and outlets, but I am installing massive electrical panels and troubleshooting many different things. The scope I am working on now is way more vast than I ever could’ve imagined,” Anwyn shared of her experience so far. She also noted the opportunities for advancement and growth, sharing that with Encore being a merit-based company, she has had multiple pay increases and opportunities to work in leadership in the year that she’s been with Encore.

Anwyn’s transition from leader to employee went very smoothly, as Encore’s onboarding and general work practice provides on the job training and education through their fully paid apprenticeship. “They offer an endless amount of classes on their website pertaining to electrical info, safety, financial, mental health, etc.,” she added. Those classes offered are through “Encore University,” a unique opportunity with more than 100 free classes offered to Encore Electric employees to become the best-trained craftspeople and professionals in the country.

Encore’s partnership with CrossPurpose has been beneficial to both parties. For CrossPurpose, Encore has helped tremendously as a staple for our leaders pursuing careers in the electrical field. Encore has shown that considering, interviewing, and hiring CrossPurpose alumni is a priority, which helps us to fulfill our mission of helping our neighbors reach their goals of general wealth. For Encore, hiring our leaders has brought them employees with admirable work ethic and a willingness to continue learning and growing. “Encore Electric is proud to partner with CrossPurpose to support their graduates as they begin their careers in the electrical trade. The CrossPurpose graduates who join Encore Electric are eager to learn and ready to contribute. They bring a strong work ethic, a commitment to growth, and a sense of purpose that aligns with the Encore Electric Core Values. Their experience with the CrossPurpose program prepares them to be valuable team members who are not only prepared to succeed in the electrical trade but also to grow into leaders within the industry,” shared Sarah Franklin, Senior Marketing and Communications Content Specialist for Encore Electric.

Sam Kallsen, Director of Prefabrication and Virtual Construction at Encore Electric, also shared that “by working directly with CrossPurpose graduates, we’re not only providing opportunities for individuals who have demonstrated strong work ethic and resilience, but also contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic workplace culture. It’s inspiring to see how their approach to work can be contagious and contribute positively to the Encore team.”

This partnership between CrossPurpose and Encore Electric offers a powerful, real-world example of a win-win strategy. By intentionally hiring CrossPurpose leaders like Anwyn, who now enjoys accelerated growth and education reimbursement, Encore is enriching its talent pipeline with highly motivated employees. This collaboration allows Encore to fulfill its business needs while helping CrossPurpose achieve its mission of building general wealth for its neighbors. This successful model proves that investing in resilient, mission-aligned talent is a direct path to both individual success and organizational strength.
